2018 SARRAH Conference Attendance Support Grant

Overview

Three Rivers University Department of Rural Health aims to improve the recruitment and retention of nursing, midwifery, dentistry and allied health professionals in rural and remote Australia.

Through this grant Three Rivers would like to support two early to mid-career academics (levels A, B and C) involved in teaching and/or research in Nursing and Midwifery, Dentistry and Oral Health, or Allied Health across CSU to attend the Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health (SARRAH) Conference.

The objective is to enhance understanding of rural health issues among staff who have important roles in training new generations of nursing, dentistry and allied health professions, and provide opportunities to engage with current issues and debates in the rural allied health field.

The SARRAH Conference is taking place from the 12th to the 14th of September, 2018 in Darwin, NT.

Three Rivers is looking to support early career academics with a demonstrated research interest in the field of rural health to attend all three days of this conference. It is not a requirement that you are presenting or already registered to attend.

The Grant will cover travel, accommodation, and conference registration costs, which will be arranged by Three Rivers UDRH. Funding will not cover meals or private expenses.

Eligibility

To be eligible applicants are required to;

  • be a current member of the academic staff at CSU at the time of travel
  • be associated with research in, or the delivery of, a Nursing and Midwifery, Dentistry and Oral Health, or Allied Health course

Successful applicants will be required to submit a written reflection relating to their line of teaching/research practice following the conference. This paper may be circulated through Three Rivers’ stakeholder communications and newsletter.

Applications

To apply the applicant must;

  • write a one-page cover letter describing their research and outlining why attendance at the conference would be beneficial
  • provide a short letter of endorsement from the Head of School/Department
    Applications will be assessed according to research alignment with rural health and the aims of Three Rivers UDRH.

Applicants will need to confirm they have not received any other funding towards attending this event.

2018 CATSINaM Conference Indigenous Student Attendance Support Grant

Overview

Three Rivers University Department of Rural Health aims to improve the recruitment and retention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nursing, midwifery, dentistry and allied health professionals in rural and remote Australia.

Through this grant, Three Rivers would like to support two students from CSU to attend The Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives’ (CATSINaM) National Professional Development Conference.

Successful applicants will be accompanied by an experienced Indigenous health professional.  This is a great opportunity for students to network and learn about career development opportunities.
