Charles Sturt University is proud to offer allied health services through the School of Community Health's Community Engagement and Wellness Centre (CEW).  The Centre aims to strengthen regional education and research in priority areas of Allied Health practice and provide direct training opportunities for regional health students.

Allied Health professionals provide a broad range of services designed to support and improve quality of life for their patients.  These services are open to the public and include the prevention, diagnosis and management of a range of health conditions, illnesses and injuries.  The CEW is a modern, purpose-built facility complete with consultation, treatment and surgery suites and inter-professional training facilities that enable Allied Health students to apply their skills in an authentic clinical environment.

Podiatry services include:

  • General foot care for adults and children
  • Assessment of foot and leg pain
  • Sports injury management
  • Orthotics and Footwear advice
  • Foot care in diabetes

Podiatry services are offered Monday to Friday 9:00am - 4:00pm.

Physiotherapy services include:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Sports physiotherapy
  • Joint and muscle pain
  • Falls prevention
  • Rehabilitation
  • Pregnancy-related pain
  • Osteoporosis
  • Real time ultrasound
  • Gymnasium

Physiotherapy services are offered:

Monday 9.00am - 4.00pm, Wednesday and Thursday 9.00am - 12.00pm. 

Appointments with the student-run clinics and services can be made without a referral. Students are closely supervised by qualified professionals in a supportive environment to ensure that patients receive the highest standard of care and service.

Falls Prevention Classes

10 week program commencing Wednesday 3 August 2016, 10.00am-11am, $10 per class

Suitable for improving strength and fitness, enhancing balance and control, improving endurance and awareness of movements. It incorporates strengthening and balance exercises and cardiovascular fitness in a fun group environment.

Smiling Spine Fitness Classes

10 week program commencing Monday 1 August 2016, 1.00pm-2.00pm, $10 per class

Suitable for reducing lower back pain, improving posture, flexibility and awareness of movements, enhancing balance and control and strengthening deep postural muscles. It incorporates mat-based pilates, yoga-based stretches and swiss ball exercises.


Speech Pathology service offering assessment and therapy for communication impairments affecting adults and children. This is a student-run service supervised by qualified speech pathologists.

Appointments available Monday-Friday, 9.00am-5.00pm. A non-rebatable fee of $40 per individual appointment applies.

For people experiencing difficulty with:

  • speech, language, voice, fluency or swallowing.
  • communication after injury or illness, or associated with a disability, e.g., after stroke, brain injury or hearing impairment.
  • communication or voice issues that affect their work, e.g., teachers, auctioneers, performers.
  • speech pronunciation or articulation.
