Associate Professor Alexandra Jones

BDSc, BDS, PhD

Alexandra Jones graduated from the University of Sydney in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science(Dental) (Hons 1) and in 1991 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Hons1).

Her PhD was awarded in 1998 in the field of Oral Pathology, in the area of tumour suppressor gene function and oral tumourigenesis.

Alexandra is a restorative dentist with 25 years experience, which includes ongoing practice ownership.

Training includes fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in restorative dentistry and many years postdoctoral research experience as a molecular biologist in tumour immunobiology, at the Skin and Cancer Research Institute and Melanoma Unit, RPAH, Sydney.

Alex is a member of the Australian Dental Association and a Fellow of the International College of Dentists.

Teaching portfolio includes experience as a teacher for undergraduate dental and medical students, in the fields of oral health, general pathology and oral pathology and supervision of post graduate and doctoral students.

The main teaching role at CSU is teaching dental clinical practice to the undergraduate 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th year dental students.

Alexandra is an examiner for the College of Dental Surgeons for the Finals Fellowship examinations and the Membership Examinations, which are both post graduate dental qualifications.
