Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science: Radiation Therapy
I completed my Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science: Radiation Therapy in 2012, during the completion of my degree I received the Townsville Cancer Care Scholarship, which supported me financially during my studies and secured a job at the Townsville Cancer Care Centre upon completion of my degree.
I began working in Townsville in January of 2013 and remained as an employee with the Townsville Cancer Care Centre until May of 2016. During my tenure I designed and implemented a Voluntary Deep Inspiration Breath Hold Technique which reduces radiation dose to the heart for patients undergoing treatment to their left breast.
In May of 2016 I moved to Toowoomba to take up a position with Radiation Oncology Centres. Whilst in Toowoomba I was successful in being appointed to the role of clinical educator, managing student placements and providing support and training to staff. I also successfully developed a relationship with a local charity group who provided donations which we used purchase a bladder ultrasound scanner. I tested and developed a protocol for this device and provided training to all staff within the department.
In October of 2017 I left Toowoomba to pursue my passion for clinical education, accepting a position with CSU as an associate lecturer in Radiation Therapy
