Agricultural Industry Practicum

CSU's new Bachelor of Agricultural Science Industry Practicum program prepares students for a future role as leaders in the agricultural industry by ensuring they receive industry relevant technical skills, professional skills and experience during their university studies.

How will the Program work?

Timing of Placement

  • The practicum period has been planned in consultation with Industry to fit within the university calendar and the seasonal work patterns of temperate agricultural industries.
  • Students are within the workplace during key management periods including sowing, lambing, calving and end of financial year.
  • The timing of placement is flexible for the benefit of both students and the workplaces.
The Year Before
JulyStudents commence seeking and applying to preferred workplaces
August -  DecemberHost companies may conduct interviews with students and/or conduct formal recruitment and selection processes.
August - DecemberStudents may undertake two weeks work experience through the CSU Careers Service as a test run for the next year.
During the Practicum Year
FebruaryStudents return to CSU for the first six weeks of session one for on campus study in preparation for placement.
April - SeptemberStudents complete a minimum twelve weeks of practicum at the workplace
SeptemberStudents return to CSU for the last six weeks of session two for on campus study.
