Originally Dr Simpson came to CSU Wagga campus in 1998 and wrote and coordinated PHM314, PHM403 and PHM401 and 402. In 2007 PHM314 and PHM403 was redeveloped to become a whole year subject - PHM315 - which was exciting as it enabled us to investigate lots of aspects of pharmacy practice ranging through ethics, professional standards, law and business models.
In 2007 she also developed PHM215 Pharmacy Practice 1 and PHM405 Professional Practice 2 (a 16 point Spring only subject) incorporating a full '8 point' Complementary Medicines stream.
From January 2007, Dr Simpson relocated to the Orange campus as the Associate Professor (Pharmacy Practice) where she is enjoying some teaching, research and working research students, liaison with the pharmacy profession, provision of educational sessions and writing journal articles.
In 2009 she was awarded a teaching fellowship with the Educational for Practice Institute (EFPI) and continue with a 50% secondment in 2010 chairing the Fieldwork Education Taskforce and associated working parties.
In 2011, she was seconded to the position of Deputy-Director (Workplace Learning) at EFPI, returned full-time to the School and in January 2013 became the Discipline leader for Pharmacy.
Dr Simpson is guided by the work of others in my philosophy of teaching - these quotations below probably best summarise my beliefs:
"You cannot teach a man anything. You can only help him to discover it within himself", Galileo Galilei
"Skill to do comes of doing", Ralph Waldo Emerson
"It is possible to store the mind with a million facts and still be entirely uneducated", Alec Bourne.
