Simone has over 15 years experience as a Physiotherapist. Her main clinical & research interests include rehabilitation, chronic health condition management, palliative care, adherence & self-management in health care, therapeutic exercise and women's health. As well as working as an academic at CSU, Simone also has a small private business focused on women's health during pregnancy & the post-natal period.
Lecturer - Physiotherapy
Simone has been teaching within the School of Community Health since 2003. She has taught into a wide range of subjects within the Physiotherapy program, as well as some subjects within Biomedical Sciences & the Bachelor of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences. She has had the opportunity to provide physiotherapy education through diverse education models, and have key input into curriculum development.
Development of an interprofessional education module on Palliative Care for final year physiotherapy, speech pathology and occupational therapy students.
Simone developed her interest in clinical research whilst conducting her honours project during her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at La Trobe University. She completed a PhD in 2007 examining the role of strength training for COPD. Her current research focuses on the role of health professionals in self-management for people with chronic health conditions, as well as post-natal recovery and multiple pregnancies.
